Black Canary and Green Arrow by BDStevens Black Canary and Green Arrow by BDStevens
I saw this one a few weeks back and it got stuck in my head. When I saw it posted in the :iconcomicteamup: I thought it would be an incredibly cool one to work on. Pretty happy with how it turned out. Hope you enjoy.

I love this one. I am trying to peck away at coloring this one. Any chance you can answer some questions about it?

Nice job! The puddles work really well in this and the Logo's are a nice touch, pretty awesome work. Also at that resolution it must have felt like a mountain to climb no?
I have a few of Jimbo's piece's stashed away on my HD that I had before he stopped allowing the work to be DL'd here, excluding the stuff he specifically shares, he's such a killer talent its hard to not want to work on his lines - its also not hard to see why he is the target of so many Art thieves.

I kind of prefer to work at a high resolution. Every now and again I'll pull out one of Jimbo's pieces if I feel like a marathon.

I prefer that too as you get more flexability with your brushes but yeah Jimbo does cover alot of real-estate with his art :P

Thanks for the great complement. I'm sure Jimbo will draw something in the near future that I can't help myself to ink.

So Pinoy. Been so long since I've had Jollibee and I don't miss it.

Ha! Yeah, it took some Googling for me to figure that one out. My take was that it was kind of the White Castle of the Philippines?

More like the Burger King of the Philippines. Yeah I spent a good 7 years there (plus 2 and 1/2 but my childhood there doesn't count). Come to think of it I don't think they have a Jollibee anywhere else but the Philippines.

Thanks Sean. Do you ever store away transparent line art? I'm curious if me offering .psd files to colorists would be more helpful or more of a pain in the ass.

jpgs are fine for me. It's a matter of 2 or 3 steps to make the lineart a channel on it's own transparent layer so no need for that at all. If someone doesn't know how to do that then they can go and learn how like I did.

true enough. Figured I'd ask since all of my workfiles are already transparent layer .psd files anyway. If they're too lazy not to do it the hard way like we learned, they don't deserve it. ;)

Thanks, yeah it started off really quickly with the upper background and the characters. I got a bit hung up in the lower left, but I was experimenting with some different techniques on the wet pavement. I ended up following Jimbo pretty closely, but I'm definitely going to be working on some high-res splatter and texture brushes to see if I can mimic some traditional techniques a bit better in the future.

The wet pavement is what caught my eye, turned out great. I need to learn a few more tricks in that department.
